
Mood-Uplift Formula - (Yang xin ding zhi fang)
TCM ACTIONS
Tonifies the Heart Qi and nourishes the Heart Blood to calm the Spirit, dispels Phlegm to open the senses and clear the mind.
INDICATIONS
Depression, anxiety, mood swings.
SIGNS & SYMPTOMS
Persistent feelings of sadness, Sleep disturbance, Poor memory and concentration, Lack of interest, Fatigue, Pale complexion, Pale tongue with a greasy white coat, Weak, thready and slippery pulse.
DOSAGE & COURSE OF TREATMENT
3 - 4 capsules, 2 - 3 times daily. In severe cases and in the early stages of treatment (first 2 - 3 weeks) the dosage may be increased by 50%. Course of treatment: 3 - 9 months. Safe to use long term.
CONTRAINDICATIONS & INTERACTIONS
Contraindicated with MAO inhibitors (e.g. phenelzine). Caution for those on anti-coagulant medications (i.e. Heparin, warfarin or aspirin). Caution in patients already taking some form of sedative-hypnotic drug. Avoid caffeine containing beverages (i.e. coffee, tea, cola drinks, guarana), especially in the afternoon.
